The Comcáac indigenous community has a strong female presence within their culture. They are the principal organisers, promoters and those who are celebrated during the rituals and traditions of the community. This could not be clearer, than during one of the most important rituals of the community, the ceremony of puberty. This celebration lasts for four days and it takes place when one of the girls turns 12 years old. During the ritual they play traditional games, elderly women sing constantly traditional songs and the last day there is a 24 hours celebration until the sunrise.
