This image was taken in Tarragona. Tarragona is a town within Catalonia. The Catalonian age started in the early twelfth century through the influence of Roman Berenguer III. He controlled parts of Southern France as part as Catalonia. Ramon Berenguer launched the region's first seagoing fleet. His successor was betrothed to the one year old heiress to the Aragonese throne. This gave Catalonia enough power to expand it's empire out into the Mediterranean, therefore sustaining a lot of affluence. In the 15th century , this has changed dramatically. From this date until 1970's successive leaders, both politically and from royalty, tightly controlled, this area of Spain, including the language and traditional dance and music.
