Hemimorphite is a sorosilicate mineral that may occur as massive crusts on various rocks or crystalline, usually in white to green or purple colours. Its crystal symmetry is orthorhombic. This mineral was formerly known as calamine and is mined in association with ores of lead and zinc. The crystalline hemimorphite in this sample is interspersed in a red limonite hostrock. Actual width of specimen is 80 mm
