The building in Cheltenham Road, Bristol that Bristol City Council planners have agreed can be converted into a mosque. This evening 50 English Defence League supporters protested outside Bristol City Council's offices against the decision. The protest was confronted by 200 anti-EDL protesters. A large police presence kept the opposing sides apart; there were heated exchanges and objects were thrown by the anti-EDL protesters. A proposed meeting, arranged by Bristol City Council for people opposing the mosque was due to take place but was canceled at the last minute. Bristol, UK 07/01/2014
