Talaiotic prehistoric monument, Menorca. Light shining on a taula (right), a type of megalithic prehistoric monument found on the Mediterranean island of Menorca, Spain. This monument is part of the prehistoric Talaiotic site of Trepuco. The Talaiotic culture arose on Mallorca and Menorca during the second millennium BC, ending in the first millennium BC with the rise of the Roman and Carthaginian empires. This taula dates from around 1400 BC, and is the tallest on the island at metres in height. Photographed in 2009.
