Secretary bird (Sagittarius serpentarius) wading in a watering hole. This bird of prey inhabits grassland and open spaces of sub-Saharan Africa. Although an accomplished flyer it remains mostly terrestrial. It feeds on snakes, large insects, lizards and rats, stamping the larger prey to death with its large claws. Photographed in the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania.
