Sitting on the end of the quay at Dysart Harbour

Dysart Harbour dates back to the early 17th century, although traces of an earlier pier can still be seen at low tide opposite Pan Ha’. The inner harbour was constructed on the site of a former quarry, and the chisel marks of the quarry workers can be seen on the steep rock face above it. By the end of the 18th century local ship owners operated around thirty vessels, trading across the North Sea carrying coal, salt and iron ore.
