Posset pot ca. 1687 Lambeth Factories Colonists used spouted drinking pots for the consumption of posset and other drinks. To make posset, various combinations of eggs, cream, sugar, bread, wine and ale were boiled, skimmed, and served hot. The low-lying spout was useful for liquids that had froth floating on top.
