This flowof steam will con-tinue until the tem-perature of the waterin the tank has beenlowered by the in-flowing cold water tobelow 212 degreesFahrenheit. The hot water tank is not full of steam, aswould appear to the person at the faucet, but the water isinstantly converted into steam as soon as the pressure isreleased from the water at the faucet. The overheating ofwater in a tank can be prevented by the use of temperatureregulators, which are made to control the supply of steamto steam coil, also to regulate the drafts to water heaters,. Draft Regulators.—An apparatus used to regulatethe drafts of a water heater is shown in Fig. 136. It con-sists of a chamber, a, enclosed in a casting, b, with an an-nular space between them for water to circulate inner chamber is connected by means of a pipe, c, to adiaphragm in valve, d, which it fitted with a lever and chain,so that any movement of the lever will open or close thedampers. The regulator is attached to the flow pipe froma heater, as shown in the illustration. The operation ofthe apparatus is as follows: The inner chamber is partlyfilled with water through the plugged connection, e, andthe plug screwed in to prevent the escape of water or water in the inner chamber is under atmospheric press-ure, which boils at 212 degrees Fahrenheit, while the wateri
