Baboon eating fruit in Manyara National Park, Tanzania, Africa. Baboons live in Arabia and Africa. They are ground dwelling animals, feeding on grass, fruit, insects, fish and small mammals, including birds. They live in large, often hierarchical groups called troops made up of up to 250 individuals (but most often around 50). The number in the troop depends on species and time of year. Baboons can weigh up to 90 or 100 pounds (41-45 kg) and be up to 34 inches (86cm) tall at the head and shoulders. Baboons are also social animals and spend time grooming each other to remove insects, ticks, and mites that can get stuck in their fur. Picking dirt and parasites out of each other's fur helps baboons develop and maintain strong relationships.
