The wholesale market is improving daily as to supply and quality of stock, but the demand is not up to expecta- tions. The growers are shipping large quantities of seasonable stock to this market, but only the light-colored stock meets with a good demand. Funeral work is about all the retailers have at present. The cooler weather has brought on an improvement in the quality of stock and length of stems. Chrysanthe- mums are beginning to arrive. Some extra good blooms of Golden Glow and Smith's Advance are seen daily. Roses and carnations will have another rival to contend with for the next six weeks, as cosmos, another head-liner, is coming. Asters are not nearly so plentiful. The quantity of gladioli is slackening up. Roses seem to form the bulk of the stock coming in; the supply in all vari- eties of these is heavy and only low prices are realized on all grades.
