USS Missouri Battleship viewed from the Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor
The USS Missouri was commissioned June 1944, a little over a year prior to the surrender of the Japanese that ended World War II. She was the last battleship build by the US. The Missouri fought in World War II and the Korean war. In 1955 the Missouri was decommissioned, but was reactivated in 1984 and fought in the 1st gulf war. The Missouri was finally permanently decommissioned in 1992. In 1998 she was donated to the USS Missouri Memorial Association which put her on display as a museum ship in Pearl Harbor.
