In North America the gadwall is confined chiefly tothe interior, and Florida and Georgia are the only Stateson the Atlantic Coast in which it occurs in any the Pacific Coast they are common residents ofCalifornia. Many of these ducks pass the winter aboutthe Gulf of Mexico, in Central America, and in the WestIndies. It is quite common throughout Illinois, is rarer.
