ON ZYGAENA (AGKUMENIA) FRAXINI M^NETRIliS 165 On Zygaena (Agrumenia) fraxini Menetries and a New Subspecies from Transcaucasia (Lep., Zygaenidae) By Hugo Reiss, Stuttgart Zygaena fraxini Menetries was first described t1) in 1832 from Talysh(Lenkoran) on the Caspian Sea. According to the literature, very fewspecimens have been taken since that time. In 1964, however, ProfessorSlaby, of Plzen, Czechoslovakia, had the good fortune to find and collectin quantity, a new subspecies of this Zygaena near Tbilisi (Tiflis) in Gruzia(Gruzien), Transcaucasia. Before I describe this new subspecies, I would like to discuss the nomi-nate subspecies and the other known subspecies of fraxini, and also theexisting records in the literature. In 1933, I wrote on fraxini and its subspecies in the EntomologischenRundschau{r^. On the coloured plate, I figured 4 tf 6 and 3 9 9. whichI placed as ssp.
