The north-eastern portion of Viti Levu, now fast fading away, is called Bakiraki, and famous in mythology as the site of Na Vatu, the Fijian Mount Olympus, and the abode of the supreme god Degei ( = Ndengei). It has been supposed that this portion of Viti was the first.
