Serpent, Serpent of wood covered with black lacquered leather. A plate is screwed onto the middle tube frame, engraved with 'Invention by L. Embach & C. in Amsterdam. Thirteen valves: the 3rd and 5th closed at the front, the 4th, 6th, 7th, 9th, 11th and 13th open. Ann the back the 1st and 2nd open, the 8th, 10th and 12th closed. The flat, round, slightly curved valves rest in saddles on support plates, some of which are mounted on metal strips between the pipe curves.
