FeBrina. Trip organised by Chris Newbert of RS Tours. Shot on: 11:47 19th March 2004. Ascidians are chordates, belonging to the same animal group as vertebrates. Most are transparent, gelatinous, tubular in shape or encrusting. Sea Squirts have an oral or incurrent siphon and a cloacal or excurrent siphon that is used for feeding. The boy of an adult is covered with a tough layer of polysaccharides and proteins. Many sea squirts have spectacular coloration. Most tunicates are hermaphrodites, whilst some species reproduce asexually.
