A photo showing the effects of disease and deforestation near the town of Dirang in the Tawang district of western Arunachal Pradesh. The latter is situated in the extreme north east of India. The region is densely mountainous and still covered in virgin forest except for where large tracts of the valleys accessible to humans are subject to illegal logging. Disease also plays a part as this photo shows. Arunachal Pradesh is still one of the more beautiful parts of the world and is home to some of the most diverse tribal peoples.
