D., Boston University Medi-cal College, with the highest honorsof his class in 1875; but never practi-ced, excepting in connection withdentistry. In 1861, ho as a privatein the 27th Massachusetts Infantryat Northampton, ynih regimentalheadquarters at Springfield; andbeing an accomplished musician, wasassigned to the band and soon be-came the second leader; was honor-. He contributed many articles to dental, medical and generalmagazines. He took great interest and enjojTiient in the practice and com-position of music; was the author of over one hundred musical compositions,consisting of songs, duets, trios and quartets, for both male and mixed voices;also two operettas. One of his chorals, the Hymn of the Flag, was accepted bythe musical committee of the Worlds Fair, Chicago, and sung there onpatriotic occasion
