Roman church : "Notre Dame sur l'eau" in Domfront. Normandy, France.

A jewel of Romanesque art. Located along the river "La Varenne". Built in 1020 by William of Bellême, it takes its name from its proximity to the river, subject to regular flooding which bathed the church, it should be part of a priory, possession of the abbey of Lonlay. It was the Middle Ages, an important place, a step on the road between Paris and Mont Saint-Michel where young and old, rich and poor stopped to pray and make offerings. William the Conqueror, Henry II, Saint Louis or Louis XI stop here.
