As an incident of that celebration, the first automobile hill climbup Giants Despair was held. This hill climb has since been conducted as an annual affair by theWilkes-Barre Automobile Club, and has been developed into an event of national importance. The Boards influence has been felt in much state legislation, and it was represented on theJoint Committee on Election Code of Pennsylvania, through whose activities the PersonalRegistration and Uniform Primaries Laws were framed and enacted.
