One at Cowlam [No. Iviii], where a woman was interred with two bronze ear- rings [fig 47] j and another on Goodmanham Wold [No. cxv], where what appear to have been two bronze ear-rings were found close to the head of a woman^ one on each side of it [fig. 48]. Two, One of the barrows at Cowlam contained the body of a woman who hiul been buried with a necklace of beads. This is the only instance, so far as I know, where glass has been found in any of the wold barrows, of a time before the occupa- tion by the Romans, except at Arras, a gi-oup of the same date as those at Cowlam.
