Northern hemisphere summer Milky Way from Sagittarius (at bottom) to Cygnus (at top) setting into the southwest over the hoodoo formations of Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah, USA. Green and red airglow tints the sky toward the horizon. The bright galactic centre area is just above the canyon rim, along with the dark dust lanes of the Dark Horse. At top are the three stars of the Summer Triangle. Photographed on 11 October 2023, by which time in mid-autumn the summer Milky Way is in the southwestern sky setting for the season in the early evening, but standing vertically across the sky.
