South Island Takahe (Porphyrio hochstetteri) an endangered flightless bird endemic to New Zealand. Relocated in Tawharanui Regional Park, North Island, New Zealand. Near-extincted, in October 2017 there were 347 takahē accounted for, an increase of 41 over 2016.
