This design is intended to meet the wants of manywho are anxious to build a square, compact can be built of either wood, brick, or stone. Thekitchen wing is intended to be only two stories high,with a fiat roof. The entrance doors are on each side, by a hallrunning across the whole, which leaves the parlorand sitting-room occupy the whole. The entrancesare fey the side porches. The plan works admirablywell, and the whole is quite a success. It was builtin the vicinity of Pittsburg. It contains: B, a parlor, 15 by 25 feet; C, a library,15 by 18 feet; D, sitting-room, 15 by 25 feet; E,dining-room, 15 by 23 feet; kitchen, 12 by 18 feet;with large pantry, and back stairway.
