An Ottoman gold-inlaid and diamond-set kard, 19th century. Slightly curved wootz Damascus blade fullered at the back on both sides, the base with floral gold inlays and calligraphic cartouche on the obverse. Silver grip ferrule, conical jade grip, the pommel with silver-set diamonds and a ruby at centre. Both sides of the silver scabbard beautifully embossed with a floral design, a tughra stamp on the reverse (Mahmud II?).
