Eleanor Holgate Lattimore (1895-1970) and her husband Owen Lattimore (1900-1989), US authors and scholars on East Asia. Their books included 'Silks, Spices, and Empire' (1968). After graduating from Northwestern University in 1915, Eleanor Holgate had studied and taught in China. The Lattimores married in 1925 and she later described their wedding journey from Peking to India in 'Turkestan Reunion' (1934). Photographed in the 1960s.
