The village sign of Wolferton in Norfolk.
The sign bears a small metal plaque (not in photograph) which reads: 'To Commemorate the / Diamond Jubilee of / Her Majesty / Queen Elizabeth II / 2012', although the original copy of the sign was donated by George V in 1912. The sign depicts the Norse legend of Tyr. This tells how the gods wished to restrain Fenrir, a wolf, who would only allow himself to be bound if one of them would put their hand in his mouth. Tyr volunteered and duly got his hand bitten off - although the wolf was bound.
