In the Judao-Christian myth of the Flood, God decides to destroy the world and the creatures he has created because they have become corrupted. He instructs Noah to build an ark to save his family, and a breeding pair of every creature on Earth. After the Flood abates Noah's Ark comes to rest (reputedly on Mount Ararat on the Turkish-Iranian border). Then Noah's family and all the animals leave the Ark to repopulate the Earth: \Every beast, every creeping thing and every bird, everything that moves upon the Earth, went forth by families out of the Ark.\" (,19)"
