Assorted tools, 16th century artwork. These are measuring (right), filing (left), and drilling (centre) tools. This is an engraving from a book by the French inventor and mathematician Jacques Besson (circa 1540-1573). The book was titled Theatre des instrumens mathematiques et mechaniques (Theatre of mathematical and mechanical instruments). This artwork is from an edition published in Lyon in 1596.
