Xerenia, died in infancy. 9. IrwinJustus, of whom further. (V) Irwin Justus Moyer, of the fifth American gen-eration of the family founded in Pennsylvania byJacob Moyer, was born in Mercer county. Pa., , 1858. After completing public school courses heentered Mount Union College, going from that institu-tion to Edinboro Normal School, whence he was gradu-ated with the class of 1882. He prepared for hisprofession at Western Reserve Medical College, Cleve-land, Ohio, and in 1886 was awarded his degree ofM. D. For a year, thereafter, he was engaged in hos-pital work, following that experience by a course of. BIOGRAPHICAL 53 post-graduate study in the medical department of theUniversity of Pennsylvania. His preparation complete, Dr. Moyer began privatepractice in the city of Pittsburgh, Aug. i6, 1888, andhas steadily adhered to a line of general practice duringthe thirty-three years which have since 1888 until 1899 he practiced in downtown Pitts-burgh, then moved to the Oakland district. His pro-fessional standing is very high, and he has won therespect of his brethren of the profession as a learnedand skillful physician, practicing according to the high-est code of ethics. He is a member of the faculty ofthe University of Pittsburgh; of the medical staflf ofMercy Hospital; member of the American MedicalAssociation; Pennsylvania State Medical Society; andthe Allegheny County Medical Society; and also of thePittsburgh Academy of Medicine, of which he was acharter member
