Greenwich Park 1859 James McNeill Whistler American Whistler travelled down the Thames to find subject this subject of a shaded lawn at Greenwich, visiting the park with his etcher brother-in-law Seymour Haden. Both created prints that show a naval pensioner from the nearby Royal Hospital for Seamen relaxing on the grass (Whister's titled "Greenwich Pensioner" () and Haden's "Sub Tegmine" (Under the Canopy; ).
