Boerderij De Adelaerthoeve at the Koningsweg in Deelen (near Arnhem) Annotation: De Heideme, together with the Stichting Beheer Agricultural Landbouwgronden, conceived the plan to around the airport site four farms to put down. The occupying forces had already cultivated the soil during wartime and thus could meet the need for agriculture and livestock farming (). The remaining aircraft hangars and locomotive shed could then be used in the construction of these farms. The Amsterdam architect Heijdelberger made plans for the renovation of these aircraft hangars and the idea to link the name 'De Vier Heemskinderen' to these farms came from Mrs Verkoren, whose husband was director of the Stichting Agriculturegrounds. The name De Vier Heemkinderen comes from the story of Van Montelbaen and is about the four children of Count Haymine van Ardennes; Ritsaert, Writsaert, Adelaert and Reinout who had fought against Charlemagne and had to pay for this with the loss of their horse, the Beyaert. The violence of war must have been the underlying idea of this name choice. Fig. 246 Location of the Four Heemskinderen. Source: Topographic map 2003 (with permission Province of Gelderland). The farms were grown between 1947 and 1950 and are successively named: Reinouthoeve, Ritsaerthoeve (2), Adelaerthoeve (3) and the Writsaerthoeve (4).
