CALOCHORTUS Or Butterfly Lilies 288 These bulbs are little known or cultivated, as they are not hardy ' enough to stand our winters in the open ground without pro- tection, but for^blooming in pots they are unsurpassed. The flowers are very large, borne on long stems, and are of the most charming butterfly colors, white, yellow, buff, crimson, purple, spotted, and shaded in a charming manner.
