South Suffolk Show held at Ampton north of Bury St Edmunds,England. 8-5-2011. In the photograph can be seen Nedging Golden Delight with Mr A. Wager who came second in the class. The 'Suffolk Punch' was almost extinct in the early 1960's. Now the breed is secure but classified as Category 1 critical by the rare breeds survival trust. All Suffolk Punch Horses can trace their male lines back to one stallion,Crisp's Horse of Ufford who was foaled in 1768. . The rural show, one of the largest in East Anglia, attracts thousands of visitors from the region. Suffolk Heavy Horses 'the Suffolk Punch', as well as sheep, cattle and pigs are exhibited in competition.
