Miller, a repatriated prisoner of war, is seen with his wife and mother outside the United States Naval Hospital during Operation Homecoming on February 18, 1973, in Camp Pendleton, California. Captured on October 13, 1967, in North Vietnam, he served as a pilot with Marine Aircraft Group-13. Lieutenant Colonel Miller joined the Marine Corps in August 1949 and resides in Tustin, California.
