For many years thequestion of establishing public lavatorieshas been mooted in the city, but councilafter council, while considering the mat-ter, never did anything with the ques-tion. Aid. Lapointe, at last nights meetingof the city council, secured the approvalof that body for an initial expenditureof $20,000 on public lavatories this committee will be formed which willchoose the sites for the much-needed pub-lic conveniences. In the citys bill, which. will be presented to the Legislature,there will be a clause asking permissionto issue a debenture for $20,000 for thispurpose, and supported, as it is by theunanimous vote of council, there is nodoubt but that it will carry.
