Guimaraes and D'Andretta (1956) re- corded only two females from Venezuela, one from Zulia, Lagunillas, ex Macrophijllum macro- pht/Uum and one from Merida, from an uniden- tified host. This species has the characteristic lateral constriction in the abdomen of the fe- male. It belongs to group III of Guimaraes and D'Andretta (1956) and to the B. speiseri group of Theodor (1967).
