It contained 33 churches, 1,500 pupilsattending public schools, and 145 attending academies andother schools. The county contains extensive beds of coal andiron ore, which are easily accessible by the Baltimore andOhio railroad. The streams afford excellent water-power. Cap-ital, Romney.
