Historic neoclassical-style building built 1910-2 on Schiffbauerdamm 19, Mitte, Berlin The newly renovated building is still threatened with demolition due to the proposed extension of the so-called Federal Area across Luisenstrasse towards Friedrichstrasse station. The large circular complex on Schiffbauerdamm is to be built for the Bundestag and other buildings will offer apartments and commercial space. The old building at Schiffbauerdamm 19 is used by Verdi (Vereinte Dienstleistungsgewerkschaft - a German trade union) and it has been suggested that the old building to be integrated into the new building complex.
