A superb infantry officer's small sword, before 1852. Single-edged Damascus blade with fullers on both sides and richly etched and gilded ornamentation on a blued background, the forte decorated with trophy bundles below the Baden coat of arms within a cartouche, the cipher "L" (Leopold or Ludwig II) and a representation of the House Order of Loyalty. The motto on the obverse side is "Für Badens Ehre" (For the Honour of Baden) and on the reverse side "Für Ehre and Wahrheit" (For Honour and Truth).
