Jewish medieval heritage, document digitisation. Researcher digitising fragments of medieval documents in Hebrew script. This work is taking place at the Historical Archives of Girona, Girona, Spain. These fragments, found in the bindings of some of the manuscripts stored here, preserve a partial record of the historic medieval Jewish community of Girona. This community was an important centre of the kabbalistic movement in Western Europe in the 13th and 14th centuries. This work is part of a project to recover, restore and study these historical Jewish documents. Digitisation will allow the documents to be studied worldwide by experts on Jewish history and medieval Catalan, including specialists from Israel and the USA.
