Sun and the planets. Illustration comparing the size of the Sun and its planets (lower left). Most of the mass of the Solar System is found in the Sun. The planets are arranged in their order from the Sun, but the distances are not to scale. From left to right, they are: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Earth's moon is shown. Next to Neptune are four dwarf and minor planets and asteroids: Pluto, Pallas, Vesta and Ceres. The Sun's diameter ( million kilometres) is around 109 times that of Earth and around 10 times that of Jupiter.
