Steel works. Molten iron being carried in torpedo ladle cars (bottom right and bottom left) at a steel works. The molten iron has come from a blast furnace, which extracts pig iron from iron ore, and is being transported to a basic oxygen furnace for conversion into steel. The torpedo ladle car is lined with thick ceramic bricks, which retain the metal's heat and maintain its molten state during transport.
