ARABIAN GULF (Sept. 26, 2015) Marines with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Maritime Raid Force depart in combat rubber raiding craft from the well deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2). The MRF tested the engines of their CRRC’s in order to maintain combat readiness. The 15th MEU, embarked aboard the ships of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group, is deployed to maintain regional security in the 5th Fleet area of operations. ( Marine Corps photo by Cpl.
