Bloodfed malaria mosquito (Anopheles gambiae) ejecting water droplet during prediuresis

After bloodfeeding, it is important for the mosquito to reduce the weight of the meal as quickly as possible. It does this in a process called prediuresis, where the excess water from the meal is ejected in small drops from the anus.
