CS gas. Molecular model of 2-chlorobenzalmalononitrile (), the key component of CS gas, also called tear gas. Exposure to this chemical causes a burning sensation in the nose, mouth and throat, and causes severe watering (tears) in the eyes. It is used as a riot control agent. Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour-coded: carbon (grey), hydrogen (white), nitrogen (blue) and chlorine (green).
