Ellwood Cooper, at Ellwood, SantaBarbara County. Fruit of medium size, oval; pulp, very fine,and melting. Color, pale yellow. Very thin skin; thrifty grower, and a prolific bearer—a very desirablevariety. Kerchevals Queen. Originated at Los Angeles. Fruit above medium size, ex-cellent flavor, few seeds, and medium thin rind. The tree is avigorous CHAPTER VIII. VARIETIES OF CALIFORNIA ORIGIN NOT RECOMMENDED. CLASS H. The varieties under this head are of inferior quahty, andtheir planting is not recommended, as, since they were intro-duced, the varieties in Class G have been found most profitableto grow. NiCARAGUAN. Originated by the late Dr. J. Shaw, of Los Angeles, fromseed from the Isthmus. Fruit very large, thick-skinned, in-ferior. Tahiti. Wolfskills Eureka. Originated by the late Lewis Wolfskill, at Los very small, round in shape. No better than the othervarieties named.
