A series of allegorical designs, representing the human heart from its natural to its regenerated st . hild Samuel n;inistered before 85 iiim in the temple; and was commissioned to m-form old Eli of the punishment that awaitedhis sons, for they were exceedingly wicked inthe sight of God ; and the foundation of thatwickedness was in consequence ot i\\Q false indul-gence of their father, who restrained them not, norcorrected them. Our Lord was well pleased with the hosannalisof the children on a certain occasion, when hesaid to his disciples, *^have ye never read, thatout of the mouth of little children God hath per-fected praise ? There is something in the cha-racter and disposition of little children which theLord loves. He referred to their simplicity, their implicit confidence, their obedience, theirartless openness, their want of trust in them-selves, their purity of mind, their ignorance ofhypocrisy and deceit, their fear of offending, andtheir perfect sincerity, when he said, Suffer thelittle Children to come to me, and forbid thenxnot, for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
