The immense plantings of ever- greens, fanc;y^ shrubbery, shade trees, orchards and formal garden were of much interest to all. In addition are many acres of tobacco, corn and po- tatoes. The members indulged in sports on the beautiful lawn. In bowling on the green E. P. Hostetter, Jacob Flear, Mr. Schaefer, of York, and A. M. Herr defeated by a narrow margin L. S. Landis, Ira Landis, H. K. Eohrer and A. K. Eohrer. Pitching quoits, croquet and card playing were also in order. At 6:30 an excellent luncheon was served on the lawn. After cigars had been passed the monthly meeting of the club was called to order by Presi- dent Barr. H. K. Rohrer spoke about his recent trip to the British Isles and France, particularly of the parks and flowers seen there, and his visit to Wm. Wells, Merstham, Surrey, England. The club .decided to send a beautiful prize to be awarded in the bowling contest at the Boston convention. Also a substantial amount will be sent to Chairman W. F. Gude toward the Smith memorial fund. At the next meeting, in September, C. F. Edgar will speak on "The Florists' Business from a Eetail Point of ; Our special representative at the S. A. F. convention, Albert M. Herr, will give his report. One of the most enjoyable events of the evening was the delightful piano music by Mrs. Nellie Eichler.
